To help achieve a just resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns advocates the creation of two viable states, Israel and Palestine. We uphold the idea of an undivided Jerusalem shared by Israelis and Palestinians, and by the three faiths that call the city sacred – Christianity, Judaism and Islam. We work with other organizations, such as Churches for Middle East Peace, to promote this vision of peace. We urge conditions that would enable Israelis and Palestinians themselves to negotiate a just and peaceful resolution of their differences. We advocate an even-handed U.S. policy in the conflict since the U.S. is the party best able to advance progress on the outstanding issues. We promote this position through efforts such as visits on Capitol Hill, speaking engagements, meetings with State Department representatives, and sign-on letters.
