Teaching for Change Bookstore at Busboys and Poets Welcomes: Rebecca Gordon
When: Tuesday, October 28 from 6:30–8 pm
Where: Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th St NW, Washington, DC (14th & V)
Hear Rebecca Gordon as she discusses and signs her new book, Mainstreaming Torture: Ethical Approaches in the Post-11 United States. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 reopened what many had long assumed was a settled ethical question: Is torture ever morally permissible? In this new book, Gordon argues that September 11 did not, as some have said, “change everything.” In fact, institutionalized state torture remains as wrong and as relevant today as it was on the day before those terrible attacks.
